Boston University Database Normalization Challenge Project

  • Submit your finalized MySQL Workbench data model file for grading and feedback. (*.mwb)
  • Review the provided resources on database normalization before making any modifications to your data model. You can always make a copy of the model file before you start should you have any worries about making an error in the design.
  • Implement the changes offered in the comments you have received from Meadow and Liam (i.e. your instructor) to your previously submitted MySQL Workbench data model before normalizing your design.
  • Normalize the database design to 3rd Normal Form as best as possible.

(Remember the purpose of Normalization is to remove any possible data inconsistencies in the model design to insure data integrity.)

  • Make sure the Data Diagram is added and complete with all necessary relations as a part of the model before forward engineering the database.
  • Continue the steps to forward engineer the database to create it on the database server.
  • Make sure there are no issues during the forward engineering operation and it completes successfully. A typical error you may receive during forward engineering may result from improperly defining a relation.
